We bought Ikea's Pyssla beads and trays some time ago, only scooping some beads out a few days ago for my son to play with. Physically drained from cycling on his new bicycle last week, he quietly enjoyed arranging the beads without help from us all day yesterday and today.
First thing he arranged was a smiley face:)
For a start, we released only 2 handfuls (literally) of the Pyssla beads to see how he takes to the new activity. The large tub of beads is safely tucked away. Will release more this weekend - not fun to step/sit on these when he spills them! He's having much fun arranging the beads we're not doing the ironing part as yet until he arranges the beads tightly into some sort of form/shape.
We used an unused Daiso kiddy plate with compartments
for easy visual sorting
Then after it was his usual style of having neat rows of colours: Percy green, Thomas blue, Donald black, Molly yellow etc after his Thomas and Friends characters.
NOTE:
The only thing about having a vivacious boy and beads is that messy spills if to be expected. Fearing of chastisement, the kid quickly invented his own 'vacuum cleaner' to pick up all the beads using 2 old Shinkansen train carriages (sans motor).
