It's the 7th day of the new Chinese lunar year today and hence also everyone's birthday! This day is also referred to as 'Ren Ri' (人日). I remember my maternal grandmother (her family is Hokkien) cook lots of vegetables on the 7th day and she calls it 七样菜, literally 'seven-types-of-vegetables' translated. My mom does this dish every ren-ri without fail.
Here's my own magnificent-7 assorted vegetable dish complete with 4 types of seafood: (anchovies, pacific clams, squid and prawns).
